The works for the BBC were at their headquarters in Birmingham and consisted of a series of partitions and wall linings to divide the floor areas into offices, workshops, hub rooms, apparatus rooms, edit suites, toilets and public areas.
The original concept design required thirty-eight different types of partitions and wall linings. Working in conjunction with Knauf technical department we reduced the initial scheme to eight partition types. These included twin and single frame partitions up to 6 m high, shaft walls, security walls, structural steel stud walls, acoustic ratings of up to 63 Rw dB and fire ratings up to ninety minutes.
This was an immensely complicated and challenging project executed to the highest standards. |
